On Jan. 19, “Hope for Ella” will be celebrating the life and dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by hosting a community service event with the third annual “Lovin’ Your Noggin” event at the Olive Garden, 2314 S. Route 38, in Cherry Hill.

Hope for Ella asks the public to join them in making hats, headbands and bandanas for kids losing their hair due to chemotherapy treatments.

This event is free, but if the public would like to make a contribution of crafting supplies such as bandanas, flowers, ribbons, etc. to make these awesome pieces of headwear, that would be great! (But a donation is not necessary.)

The headwear may seem like a small gesture but will make these kids facing so many challenges feel like a million bucks. Hope For Ella will be taking the headwear to Nemours Alfred I. Dupont Hospital for Valentines Day.

Hope for Ella originally started to give medical updates to friends and family of Ella Wilson, the 8-year-old Marlton resident with type 1 neurofibromatosis or NF1, a genetic disorder in which nerve tissue grows tumors.

With Ella’s penchant for giving back, the group eventually took on the added task of keeping fans up-to-date on what charitable activity Ella is currently up to.

In the past, Ella hosted toy drives for families displaced by Hurricane Sandy and those deployed in the military, along with numerous other fundraisers.

With the Jan. 19 Lovin’ Your Noggin’ Event, Hope for Ella asks the public to come out and celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a few hours of service.
