Moorestown Parks and Rec Column and Schedule

As winter approaches and the world prepares to take a brief pause, the Department of Parks & Recreation is in high gear making sure that there are plenty of programs available for everyone this winter. For participants ages 3 to 103 there is plenty to do to keep minds, bodies, and spirits active this winter! Registering your favorite someone for a new program might be the perfect holiday gift! What better gift, than the gift of a Parks & Recreation Program or Activity? The gift that keeps on giving!

Recreation fees are reasonable and maintained in an effort to offer something for everyone. Additionally, through its partnerships with many local non-profit organizations scholarships are available. Adults wanting to stay fit and prevent that “winter bulk” have plenty of options to choose from. Personal fitness, general wellness and yoga offer adults many choices. Pickleball is available for practice and games and the Over 35 Basketball League and Adult Volleyball League offer competitive play for adults. Registration is open and on-going. What a great gift for the active adult in your life!

For tweens to young adults there are a variety of programs available. From Basketball and Volleyball to personal fitness programs and dance there are numerous ways that teens and young adults can stay fit and have fun. The competitive yet friendly nature of the Recreation Leagues allows young people who want to be active and fit the ability to socialize with their peers and have fun! Try a new sport or just have fun with one you enjoy! The gift of active participation is one every child will enjoy! The January kick-off dates for these programs are the perfect way to start off the New Year.

For those young people who find solace in the arts, there is plenty to choose from! From arts and music programs, there are a wide variety of arts offerings available to our community. How many times as a parent have you said, “I’d love for my child to take art lessons” or “learn to play piano,” but the investment is too high? The Department of Parks & Recreation offers the opportunity for anyone interested in exploring the arts a way to do so without breaking the bank. Give the gift of the arts! Encourage creativity and personal growth in someone you love.

The plethora of programs available for pre-school age youth range from winter swimming to dance to an introduction to sports. The programs offered to pre-school age children and their care-givers are numerous and varied in design. The open swim and general sports exposure programs offer fun, active opportunities to fill the long winter months. This is a great gift for a caregiver in your life something to promote bonding time as well as a healthy outlet.

So as we take pause this holiday season and take a moment to count our blessings, let us count the multitude of programs available to the whole community through the Department of Parks & Recreation.
