Cameron Dougherty of Voorhees was named Outstanding Senior Man of the Year for Susquehanna University’s Class of 2014.
Each year the alumni association selects two well-rounded seniors, one man and one woman nominated by a committee of faculty, staff and academic deans. Seniors are nominated based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, volunteer work and other accomplishments. The winners receive medallions prior to commencement and are invited to speak at Opening Convocation for the Class of 2018 in August.
Dougherty graduated from Susquehanna on May 11 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. During his time at Susquehanna, he was a presidential fellow, a student representative on the university’s Board of Trustees, treasurer of Students in Free Enterprise/Enactus, a coach for the Global Business Perspectives class for first-year business students and a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. Dougherty was also a member of the men’s ice hockey team, the university’s orientation team and several student organizations. In addition, he was named to the list of Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and attended Susquehanna’s LeaderShape Institute in 2012.
Dougherty and Outstanding Senior Woman of the Year Candence “CC” Cannady, of Chicago, received their medals at a luncheon for graduating seniors on May 9. Robert Ries, the Outstanding Senior Man for the Class of 2013, presented them with their awards. Following graduation, Dougherty took a position with Deloitte, one of the “Big 4” accounting firms in the nation with whom he interned last summer.
