Spring Hills Cherry Hill celebrates Older American Month in May

The residents of Spring Hills Cherry Hill Luxury Assisted Living in Cherry Hill are being celebrated during Older American Month, a national designation to recognize older Americans for their contributions and provide them with information to help them stay healthy and active. This year’s focus is on injury prevention with the theme “Safe Today. Healthy Tomorrow.”

Hoping to help older Americans live longer and have healthier lives by taking control of their safety is the goal of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Community Living. They say that older adults are at a much higher risk of unintentional injury and even death than the rest of the population. Unintentional injuries to this population result in at least six million medically treated injuries and more than 30,000 deaths every year.

Spring Hills and Genesis Rehab Services, Spring Hills’ on-site provider of speech occupational and physical therapies, offer many fall prevention tips such as:

  • Exercise regularly
  • Keep good lighting at home
  • Keep everything at home orderly
  • Use equipment designed for greater accessibility (like grab bars and non-slip mats in the bathroom, handrails, etc.)

Throughout the month at Spring Hills are programs on diabetes, memory care, even weekly massages for residents.
