Open house for Medford football and cheerleading scheduled for May 7

The Medford Youth Athletic Association is holding a football and cheerleading open house for parents and children ages 5 to 14 on Wednesday, May 7 from 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pinelands Sports Center in Southampton.

The open house will include three parent information sessions. The sessions will be led by Paul Kasper, the director of sports medicine for Virtua Health Systems, Tim Gushue, head football coach at Shawnee High School, and Bill Rieger and Angie Paschell, commissioners for MYAA football and cheerleading.

Representatives, coaches and parents from the cheer and football programs, as well as current and past players and cheerleaders will be on hand to discuss the programs and answer questions. Parents of future football players will also have the opportunity to learn about the modern, progressive methods of coaching football including certification programs through Virtua Health and USA Football that have changed the game and made it safer. The MYAA’s focus is on player safety, a focus that is unparalleled in any other local sports program.

Attendees to the open house will receive a 10 percent discount of registration for next season. For more information, log on to www.myaafootball.com or visit the MYAA Football Facebook page.
