Haddonfield residents Keira Brandenburg, 14, and Regan Larkin, 14, recently volunteered their time at Urban Promise, as part of their Girl Scout Silver Award project.
The premise of their project was to provide scrapbooking opportunities and assistance to single mothers and their children in the greater Camden area.
“We were honored to meet these wonderful and inspiring families. The project brought Keira and I joy, watching memories be made,” Larkin said.
Many of the families welcomed the chance to organize their photos and reminisce about their children’s experiences. Developing scrapbooks proved to be a great vehicle for bringing the families together.
The location of the project was at the Urban Promise, a non-profit school whose mission is to equip Camden area children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and Christian leadership.
Brandenburg and Larkin are currently eighth graders at Haddonfield Middle School. They are Girl Scout cadets in Troop 30030, who are seeking the coveted Silver Award. The girls are eager to participate in future Girl Scouts, and other community service activities.
