Mary E. (Betty) Dowlin of Moorestown died on Feb. 21, 2014 at the age of 93.
Dowlin passed away at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. She was born in Philadelphia to Roy and Edith B. Taylor. Dowlin graduated from Germantown Hospital School of Nursing and the School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dowlin served as a nurse in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during WWII, and worked at the Germantown Hospital Maternity Department prior to her marriage.
Dowlin is survived by her husband of 52 years, Cornell M. Dowlin Jr., two nieces and a nephew.
Dowlin enjoyed summers in Ocean City, and volunteered at many organizations, including Red Cross blood donations, and as president of the Women’s Association of the Methodist Hospital, in south Philadelphia.
The Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 1, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., at The Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Road. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “The Building Fund” of the church, at the church address listed above.
