Medford announced cancelations and advisories in wake of winter storm

Medford Township has issued the following advisories regarding the snowstorm that hit the region on Thursday.

Curbside trash collection has been canceled for Thursday.

The Township Public Works yard will be closed for bulk trash drop-off on Thursday, but will be open on Saturday from 7 a.m. until 12 noon.

It may take over 24 hours after the end of the snowfall for all streets in the township to be plowed. Crews will be working throughout the storm to maintain roadways for public safety access. After the storm, main roads will be cleared first, followed by secondary streets, courts, and cul-de-sacs. These smaller side streets and courts may initially be plowed down the center to allow access, and then pushed back near the curbs at a later time.

Residents are reminded:

  • Only travel if absolutely necessary — use caution on roadways and take your time
  • Use off-street parking where available
  • Move basketball backboards and other obstructions off the street
  • Clear sidewalks in front of residents and businesses within 24 hours after the first sunrise after the end of the storm
  • All township parks and athletic fields, the Freedom Skatepark, and the Cranberry Hall Senior Center will be closed from Thursday thru Sunday.
  • Inspections scheduled by the construction office may be postponed.
  • Residents that still need to make tax payments are encouraged to use the on-line tax payment system found under departments under Tax Office.

Contractors are reminded that snow from private property is not to be deposited on streets or roadways. It is a violation of township ordinance.

The township would like to thank residents in advance for their patience and understanding.

For storm related updates on Thursday and Friday, all residents are encouraged to visit Medford’s official website,, official Facebook page or subscribe to the Nixle notification system for text message and email notifications.
