On Jan. 27, 2014, Beloved husband of Jane (nee Sherman); Loving father of Janet Garman (Gary) of Crownsville, Maryland and Nancy Giordano (Tom) of Cherry Hill, New Jersey; Cherished grandfather of Christopher Garman, Michelle Fraser (Sean), Nicholas Garman (Samantha), TJ Garman, Laura, Tina & Tommy Giordano; Adoring Great Grandfather of Reagan Fraser and Dear brother of Carol Verven (Nicholas) of Massachusetts and Joan Fleming (William) of New York.
Mr. Poynton graduated from Rutgers University and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a partner in the insurance firm of Anderson, Jackson, Metts in Haddonfield. Mr. Poynton was a member of the Haddonfield Y’s Men, the 65 Club, Wedgewood Swim Club, (past president), the Camden/Gloucester Co. Insurance Agent Association, and served on the advisory board of the Mabel Kay House. Additionally, he was a volunteer for Interfaith Caregivers.
Mr. Poynton’s family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 31, 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., in the Sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, 20 East Kings Highway, Haddonfield, where his service will follow at 12 p.m. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Mr. Poynton’s name to the church at the above address, where he had been a member for over 50 years. Donations can also be made to Lighthouse Hospice, 1040 North Kings Highway, Suite 100, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
