Moorestown native Cris Maloney, author of Field Hockey: Understanding the Game, focuses on teaching umpires in his new book, JUMP IN! Beginner’s Guide to Field Hockey Umpiring.
“JUMP IN comes with a whistle and penalty cards,” said Maloney. “I think people who teach umpiring will make it part of their course materials and if you’re interested in learning how to umpire, especially if you’re a player too, it’s a great package. The sport is always looking for quality umpires and now it has ready made course materials — a national curriculum.”
