Members of Haddonfield American Legion Post 38 and other local veterans and service members will participate in the 17th Annual Veterans Day Program at Haddonfield Middle School on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m.
Year after year, local veterans and soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines on active duty or serving in the National Guard or Reserves participate in this event, fostering friendships and camaraderie while educating students.
The day’s schedule will begin with a program in the auditorium which will include the Pledge of Allegiance; the “Star Spangled Banner;” introduction of veterans and other guests; remarks by Middle School Principal Dr. Gino Priolo, teacher John Farrell, and Post 38 Commander Brian Fitzgerald; a presentation; and “Taps.” This year, the emphasis will be on our troops currently serving in Afghanistan. Members of the local Family Readiness Group and USO will be present. Current plans include phone calls to New Jersey via “Skype” by our troops in Afghanistan.
Following the auditorium program, there will be a luncheon for veterans, other guests, selected students and faculty in the library. After lunch, the veterans and Family Readiness Group members will visit the seventh- and eighth-grade classrooms for informal discussions.
