Weddings returning to Smithville Mansion

Burlington County Clerk Tim Tyler announced today plans for weddings at the historic Smithville Mansion for the unique date of Nov. 12

“Given the enormous success of several years of special dates and holiday weddings, it is once again my pleasure to offer couples the opportunity to exchange vows at the Smithville Mansion” Tyler said. “With the continued support and cooperation of the County Freeholders, the county Division of Parks and the Friends of Smithville Mansion, we are looking forward to hosting these events at this stately and historic location.”

There are a limited number of appointments available for each date so interested couples should contact the clerk’s office as soon as possible to schedule their ceremony. Nov. 12 weddings will be performed by appointment, with the first wedding at 1 p.m. Ceremonies will be scheduled until 5 p.m.

The clerk will return to the mansion to continue the tradition of holiday weddings on Thursday, Dec. 19. Holiday weddings in the beautifully decorated mansion will begin at 2 p.m. with ceremonies scheduled until 7 p.m.

“Couples interested in a wedding should contact my office at (609) 265–5142 to ensure an appointment is available,” Tyler said. “The couple will need to obtain a marriage license from the town in which either of the parties resides. It takes 72 hours to obtain the license, so it cannot be left until the last minute.”

Tyler regularly performs wedding ceremonies for Burlington County residents and persons posted to local military facilities. He has performed special date ceremonies for Nov. 11, 2011 and Oct. 11, 2012 in historic county locations and has held ceremonies regularly for the holidays since 2009 and St. Valentines’ Day since reviving the tradition in 2011. After several years of offering, he will preside over a Halloween wedding on the steps of the Historic Prison Museum on Oct. 31. Tyler performed over 700 ceremonies since taking office after his election in 2008.
