The Burlington County Sheriff’s Department will hold its annual Senior Citizen’s Police Academy on six consecutive Thursdays beginning September 12 and running through October 17.
The program, which focuses on safety issues important to seniors, is free of charge. Those interested in attending should call the Sheriff’s Community Services Unit at (609) 265–3788.
“Senior citizens will gain a wealth of information and knowledge on how they can better protect themselves from violence, accidents, and even consumer fraud,” sheriff Jean Stanfield said. “Folks will get to experience some of the County’s law enforcement and public safety resources.”
Classes will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Emergency Services Training Center, located at 53 Academy Drive in Westampton. Classes will include information on home security, fire prevention, the Project Lifesaver tracking program, defensive driving, consumer frauds and cons, health issues, the court system, and emergency and 2–1–1 CONTACT help lines.
All participants will also be provided with photo ID cards.
