Details: On Sunday, the Camden County Freeholder Board will honor veterans residing in Yardley Commons. The board will be working alongside the Office of Veterans Affairs to present the Camden County Service Medal to all members who served in their country. In total there will be eight individuals representing every branch of the U.S. military.
“The Veterans that fought for our country with honor and conviction deserve to be thanked and recognized for their contributions,” said Freeholder Ed McDonnell, liaison to the Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs. “It is fitting that we pay tribute to this special group of Veterans and tell their stories.”
The Camden County Military Service Medal was created by the Freeholder Board to honor the men and women who have made Camden County proud by serving their country with honor and valor.
The veterans being honored are:
Coast Guard, Yeoman 1st class Elizabeth Jean White, served from 1944 to 1946
U.S. Navy, FT 2nd class Billy Bailey, Korean War, served from 1951 to 1955
U.S. Army, 1st Lt. Lorraine Brunner, Korean War, served from 1951 to 1953
U.S. Army Specialist 4th class, Joseph Cohen, served from 1962 to 1965
U.S. Air Force, Airman, John Daniels Jr. served from 1958 to 1962
U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Lt. Raymond Lavanture, served from 1954 to 1956
U.S. Army Pfc. Leroy Lyons, served from 1943 to 1945
U.S. Army Tech Sgt. Irving Ocher, World War II, served from 1943 to 1946
