Mayor’s Column: Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant to open in August

The evolution of The Voorhees Town Center into our “downtown” continues with the opening of Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, with the “first pour” planned for early August. Iron Hill will be another addition to our “restaurant row” and bring an exciting new concept to the Boulevard.

Iron Hill takes its name from an historic Revolutionary War landmark in Delaware, where Generals Washington and Lafayette battled against General Cornwallis to ensure American liberty.

It was “the pursuit of happiness” as described by the Declaration of Independence that led to the formation of Iron Hill in 1994, when two award-winning home brewers, Kevin Finn and Mark Edelson, teamed up with Kevin Davies, an experienced professional in restaurant operations, to open the first Iron Hill.

The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, serving made-from-scratch menu items that include soups, sandwiches, pizzas, salads and entrées, covering a variety of cuisines from ethnic to hearty comfort foods. Signature dishes include cheesesteak egg rolls with fried onions, crispy fried matchstick potatoes with ketchup and horseradish-chive sauce, pan seared sea scallops with crabmeat, Lejon pizza with Florida rock shrimp, bacon, green onion, mozzarella and horseradish sauce, and Dijon chicken breasts with cheddar smashed potatoes.

The restaurant will feature a comfortable and welcoming interior bar and dining areas with large plate glass windows separating the restaurant from the state-of-the-art brewery that will produce Iron Hill’s award winning brews.

Through the brewery’s windows, beer enthusiasts will be able to watch the brewing process and enjoy Iron Hill’s six house beers, monthly beer releases and selections from the bottled reserves as well as the brewery’s award-winning beers from over the years bottled to enjoy in the restaurant or to take home.

Floor-to-ceiling windows will open up completely to the street. The bustling lounge area will include dark wood high-top tables and a large mahogany bar, offering the perfect place to enjoy freshly brewed beer, select wines by the glass and creative cocktails.

Voorhees will be the home of Iron Hill’s 10th restaurant with other locations in Maple Shade, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Iron Hill’s beers have accumulated a wealth of awards from the nation’s top beer festivals, and their restaurants have earned more than 100 “Best of” recognitions from local and national publications. Iron Hill will join Catelli Duo, Rodizio Grill, Burger 21, Elena Wu Restaurant & Sushi Bar and Spoon Me on Restaurant Row.

The boulevard also includes It’s A Doggie Dog World, The Sporting Club and Rizzieri Salon and AVEDA School for Beauty.
