Reminder: Alice Paul Institute celebrates Women’s Equality Day tomorrow

The Alice Paul Institute will celebrate 93 years of women voting with “Fight for Equality: Know Your Healthcare Rights,” Saturday, July 27, 1 p.m., at Paulsdale, 128 Hooton Road.

New Jersey State Assemblyman Troy Singleton, 7th District, explores issues impacting women’s health care including legal rights and what lawmakers are doing to protect and enhance their health care rights.

Other speakers include Brandon C. Goldberg of the law firm of David C. Barmack, LLC, who discusses the Family Medical Leave Act and what it means for women and Dr. Lisa Medvetz, director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Program at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County.

The Alice Paul Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about the life and work of New Jersey’s most famous suffragist, Alice Stokes Paul (1885–1977), author of the Equal Rights Amendment, founder of the National Woman’s Party, and a lifelong activist for women’s equality. Paulsdale, Alice Paul’s birthplace and family home in Mt. Laurel, is a National Historic Landmark and serves as a center for celebrating women’s history and leadership. All proceeds from the July 27 event benefit the preservation of Paulsdale.
