The Moorestown 10U District team claimed its third consecutive district title by defeating Delran 7–1.
It was an intense battle between the two teams, with a score of 1–1 through the first four innings. A home run in the bottom of the fifth by Moorestown’s Eric Schmoll — his first — started a furious six-run rally to win the game.
Moorestown’s pitching continued to dominate as starting pitcher, Wyatt Atkinson, held Delran to only one run through three innings, while a strong close by Danny Gerber sealed the deal for the three-time district champs.
Moorestown advances to the South Jersey State Championship held in Delran, which began on Saturday, July 13.
