The Medford district reported another “Point of Pride” for Medford Township Public Schools.
On March 11, Gov. Christie’s administration identified 57 public schools as “Reward Schools” throughout the state for the high overall performance or progress on state tests. In South Jersey there were only three schools identified, and Taunton Forge Elementary School was the only one in Burlington County.
The number of Reward Schools listed this year is half of last year’s 112 schools, largely due to the fact that schools now are required to meet specific achievement targets.
To be a “High Performing School,” proficiency levels for every category of students must be in the top 10 percent of the state and an overall proficiency rate greater than 90 percent. Graduation rates are taken into consideration for high schools.
