Voorhees Township will continue to look at the 2013 budget before its final submission to the county on March 27.
According to Voorhees chief financial officer Dean Ciminera, the township will continue to work on the budget and can adopt the final plan after the state’s approval and the township’s public hearing.
Ciminera said the preliminary 2013 budget forecasts a tax bill to be $1,453 for the
average assessed home of $255,608.
In 2012, the average assessed home was $332,648 and the average assessed homeowner paid $1,486 in taxes.
Approximately $18.05 million needs to be raised by taxation, a 4.97 percent increase from 2012, Ciminera said.
He said there are various factors that allow the township to stay under the 2 percent levy cap. Voorhees Township falls $301,009 below the 2 percent cap.
“It’s always a combination of grant revenues, miscellaneous revenues and controlling expenses that allows us to stay under the 2 percent levy cap,” he said.
The township is anticipating a $1.2 million increase in revenues for 2013.
The public hearing date for the budget is Monday, April 8, during the township’s committee meeting at 8 p.m. at Voorhees Town Center.
