Evesham resident named new BCC dean of liberal arts

Burlington County College (BCC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Nichole Bennett-Bealer has been selected as the college’s new dean of liberal arts.

Bennett-Bealer joins BCC with 14 years of higher education experience, most recently as Director of the Learning Center at Northampton Community College, located in Bethlehem, PA. She has a B.A. in literature from Rider University, M.A. in English literature from Marquette University, M.S. in adult education from Buffalo State College, and both a Ph.D. and M. Phil in modern history and literature from Drew University.

Originally from Burlington County, Bennett-Bealer’s new position is a homecoming.

Her extensive teaching and higher education experience include various roles working with faculty, professional staff and administrators, and serving students through several academic support capacities at Marquette University, Rider University, SUNY College at Plattsburg, and Northampton Community College. She has even held an adjunct instructor position at BCC, teaching both history and composition.

Bennett-Bealer has been an active member of numerous professional associations.

Currently, she serves as President-Elect for the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA), PA/NJ Chapter and holds the distinction of being one of the few CRLA reviewers for the International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC). She is also a member of the National Association for Developmental Education (NADE) and recently received an “Outstanding Professional Service Award” from the New York College Learning Skills Association (NYCLSA). In addition, she works as managing editor for the National College Learning Association’s (NCLCA) publication The Learning Assistance Review (TLAR). Overseeing all Liberal Arts division programs, including the fine and performing arts, humanities, social sciences, and business and related studies, will be a part of her new role at BCC.

“I’m committed to BCC, as well as the core values and mission of community colleges,” Bennett- Bealer said. “I’m looking forward to working with students, providing academic support, and collaborating with the faculty to further strengthen our programs and reputation for excellence. It’s not only what they teach that is important, it’s how they reach students with what they are teaching that matters.”

Bennett-Bealer currently resides in Evesham Township with her family.
