LETTER: Bancroft purchase is ‘a lose-lose proposition’

I have lived in town for 27 years and I am in support of Haddonfield United’s opposition to the BOE’s purchase of Bancroft.

I have read, and am in full agreement with the points outlined in Messrs. Webb, Green and Brandenburg’s recent letters, and also believe there are additional reasons why Haddonfield residents should vote against the purchase: The turf fields and projected educational facilities will be installed in an already congested part of town, in close proximity to homes on Hopkins, Kings Highway and adjoining neighborhoods (the noise from the speaker system during sporting events are already deafening.)

Local officials have only given a broad, generalized outline of what they intend to install at the Bancroft site….but the devil is in the details.

We will not know the real picture for many years.

How will the traffic generated from new construction compare with the current traffic flow.

Are residents on this side of town prepared to deal with potential safety and congestion issues, not to mention noise, especially when we will be shouldering part of the costs as taxpayers.

To me, this purchase sounds like a lose-lose proposition.
