Hurricane Sandy update: Trick-or-treating postponed and power restoration
Updated on Wednesday, Oct. 31: Governor Chris Christie signed an executive order postponing trick-or-treating until Monday, Nov. 5. Voorhees will comply with the orders.
In addition, the Voorhees Police Department released a statement regarding power restoration around town.
According to the report, temporary power loss will continue in different areas because of repairs. Further updates concerning a time for repair completion.
Township offices and the M. Allan Vogelson Branch Library closed on Monday, Oct. 28, and Tuesday, Oct. 29, due to Hurricane Sandy.
The township announced driving restrictions throughout the township. The roads are limited to authorized emergency personnel until further notice.
According the Voorhees Police updates, a flood warning was issued in some locations around Gloucester, Camden and Burlington Counties.
Police Chief Louis Bordi was unable to be reached for comment.
On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Mayor Michael Mignogna said he was getting ready to ride around Voorhees with Deputy Mayor Mario DiNatale and Bordi.
“Only one section of town is still without power as of 11 a.m.,” Mignogna said.
According to Mignogna, fallen trees with no reported injuries damaged two homes.
“Public works is doing a great job clearing roads. Our emergency management team has done a great job,” he said.
