The following was released by the Cherry Hill Fire Department.
The Cherry Hill Fire Department was dispatched to an activated fire alarm at 300 West Route 70 shortly before 10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6. The fire dispatcher notified responding units that they were receiving a 911 call reporting a building fire at the same address. The incident was upgraded to a building fire response of four engine companies, two ladder companies, and the Battalion Chief.
The first arriving ladder company reported smoke from the second floor and roof area of the structure. Firefighters initiated an interior offensive firefighting operation deploying two hose lines to the second floor, while ventilating the building from the high heat and smoke conditions. Quick work by firefighters contained the fire to the area of origin on the second floor with smoke and water damage to the remaining sections of the building. The fire was placed under control in 43Â minutes.
Eight businesses occupy the building and are currently affected by the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Cherry Hill Fire Department Fire Marshal and Camden County Prosecutors’ Office.
