You can feel the buzz in the air (mainly from the schools in the township) and it’s becoming clear that summer is on its way. Instead of traveling down to the shore for a weekend or taking an expensive vacation, why not indulge in a “staycation” and check out all of the summer events in Moorestown.
One Moorestown tradition is right around with corner, with the annual Moorestown Day event taking place on Saturday, June 2.
This long-standing tradition features local merchants with sidewalk sales, over 100 vendors, a full day of food, entertainment, local theater company performances and fun for the entire family.
Vendors, crafters and entertainers line Main Street during the day for visitors to peruse at their own pace.
The day kicks off at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. It’s hosted and presented by the Moorestown Business Association and is supported through several sponsors in the township.
For more information please visit the Moorestown Business Association’s website at www.moorestownbusiness.com.
Gets your floats ready, because the 2012 Moorestown Fourth of July Parade will again take place on Wednesday, July 4. The parade is completely funded by the Moorestown Fourth of July Parade Committee, as the township budget no longer funds the event.
The annual event is funded by donations from local sponsors and Moorestown residents.
This year’s theme for the parade is the Liberty Bell.
Do you have a group that wants to enter a float in the parade? Get in contact with the committee by email through [email protected].
A new aspect of the Fourth of July celebration will be held in June at the Moorestown Township Library, with the first of the Moorestown Freedom Lecture Series taking place on Thursday, June 14. The first lecture will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.
The series is presented by the Moorestown Fourth of July Parade Committee and will feature lectures by Garry Stone of the historic Indian King Tavern in Haddonfield and Lenny Wagner of the Moorestown Historical Society.
Capping the summer off will be Moorestown Township Day at the Riversharks Game at Campbell Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 20. Tickets will be offered at a discount to Moorestown residents for the game and Mayor John Button will throw out the first pitch.
Other surprises are in store for the event, but aren’t confirmed as of yet, a township representative said.
