Plenty to do in Haddonfield this summer

You can feel the buzz in the air (mainly from the schools in the borough) and it’s becoming clear that summer is on its way. Instead of traveling Down the Shore for a weekend or taking an expensive vacation, why not indulge in a “staycation” and check out all of the summer events in Haddonfield.

The annual Haddonfield Farmers Market opened up for another season on Saturday, May 19 and will run every Saturday until Oct. 20, rain or shine, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located in the heart of Haddonfield at Kings Court, it’s the market’s sixth season as a community non-profit.

Come each week to see what’s new, seasonal and fun. Parking is free in Haddonfield on weekends and for more information on the market check out its website at www.haddonfieldfarmersmarket.org.

The borough’s annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on Wednesday, May 30. American Legion Post 38 will conduct the annual parade, stepping off promptly at 10 a.m. The parade will form with its forward position at Kings Highway and Chestnut Street facing Haddonfield Memorial High School. The parade will end at the high school, where a memorial service will be conducted.

First Friday events will be held downtown on the first Friday of each month until Oct. 5. The next First Friday will be held on Friday, June 1. Each First Friday event offers free entertainment on Kings Highway and the downtown Haddonfield business district. There are vendors set up on the street and special discounts and offers during the event. Each First Friday is free to attend and is held from 5 to 9 p.m.

The annual July 4 celebration will be held over two days, beginning Tuesday, July 3, with the borough fireworks and entertainment spectacular at Haddonfield Memorial High School. Admission’s free for the fireworks display — which begins at dusk — but donations are welcome. The doors for the event typically open at 7 p.m.

The annual borough parade will be held the next day on Wednesday, July 4, and typically starts at 10 a.m. It steps off from Kings Highway and Chestnut Street and then travels up the to the high school.

July is a busy month in the borough, as free rotary concerts will be held for the public on Fridays, July 6, July 13, July 20 and July 27. The concerts begin at 7 p.m. and are held at Kings Court. Check out the rotary website at www.haddonfieldrotary.org for a list of the bands that are performing at the concert series.

The 20th annual Haddonfield Crafts and Fine Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, July 14, and Sunday, July 15, along Kings Highway and Tanner Street. The event is typically one of the busiest borough events of the year and features vendors, artists, and crafters from across the country. Entertainment is featured along the roadways and downtown eateries set up outside eating facilities for visitors. The fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Sidewalk sales will be featured in downtown Haddonfield Thursday, Aug. 2, Friday, Aug. 3, and Sunday, Aug. 4.
