Fourth-graders adopt bald eagle

The fourth-grade students of Taunton Forge Elementary School in Medford have adopted a bald eagle through the Adopt-A-Wild-One program of the Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge.

For more information on the refuge, please visit www.cedarrun.org.

Last December, the students were treated to a live animal exhibit in their classroom titled “Reptiles & Raptors.”

This educational program is called “Refuge on Wheels.”

The students were so impressed that they collected a donation of $150 for the care of a bald eagle named Orion who had been injured by flying into high tension wires in Wyoming, leaving him flightless. Orion was transferred by plane to Cedar Run refuge where he has been offered a safe home and personal care for the rest of his life.
