Two new fire captains in the Evesham Fire-Rescue District

After an arduous screening and selection process, it is with great pride that Chief Lowden announces the promotion of two lieutenants to the rank of captain. Captain John Behnke was hired as a career firefighter in 1989 and ascended to the rank of Lieutenant in 2001. John is certified as a Fire Investigator, Fire Official, and Fire Subcode Official. He is currently assigned as Captain of the Operations Division at EFD’s Main Street Station (Station 221). Captain Carl Bittenbender was hired as a career firefighter in 2002 and ascended to the rank of Lieutenant in 2005. Carl is certified as a Fire Investigator, Fire Official, and Fire Subcode Official. He is currently assigned to the Fire Prevention Division and will be serving as Evesham Township’s Fire Marshal.

Friends, co-workers, and family members convened for a brief swearing-in ceremony at the Main Street Station on Monday, April 9 during the Board of Fire Commissioner’s meeting. Paul Thomas, the Fire District’s Business Administrator, administered the oath of office to Captains Behnke and Bittenbender. Please join us in wishing both of them congratulations and the best of luck in their new assignments!
