Don’t miss the Cooper River Dash for The Trash

Just in time for spring, Americorps Watershed Ambassadors and Sustainable Cherry Hill, with the Camden County Board of Freeholders and Viridian Energy as sponsors, are hosting a volunteer event to clean up any trash and debris on both sides of Cooper River Park on Saturday, March 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volunteers are needed and can get more information and sign up by going to http://conta.cc/riverblitz.

The loop for the cleanup will be from S. Park Drive to Rte. 130, to N. Park Drive, down Cuthbert Boulevard and back to your car.

This is a great event for families, scout and school groups and anyone interested in spending part of their Saturday keeping our waters clean, safe and healthy. Volunteers should come in work clothes, dress in layers and wear boots to participate.

“The Camden County Board of Freeholders is proud to be a part of this volunteer effort,” said Jeffrey Nash, liaison to the County’s Parks Department.

“Our parks are so important to all our residents that we strive in every way to keep them safe, clean, with all the amenities and facilities that help Camden County residents enjoy their lives outdoors. This event is a perfect time for people around the county, including Cherry Hill, Pennsauken, Collingswood and Haddon Township, all of which are park neighbors, to meet new friends and join in a common environmental cause.

“We applaud Americorps Watershed Ambassadors, Sustainable Cherry Hill and Viridian Energy for coming together on this event and are proud to join them,” he said.

The Board of Freeholders will provide gloves, bags and other equipment and personnel to help with the cleanup, which includes the riverbank itself. Viridian will supply water and snacks. Americorps Watershed Ambassadors and Sustainable Cherry Hill will provide volunteers and expertise.
