The intense fire was also extending to the second floor and attic as firefighters set up hose lines to control the fire. Additional firefighting companies responded, and at the height of operation, three Engine Companies, two Ladder Companies and three Command Officers worked to control this fire.

The fire, which originated in the lower rear family room quickly spread throughout the rest of the first floor and to the upper floor as firefighters initiated their attack.

Firefighters simultaneously deployed multiple hose lines to attack the fast moving fire while other crews helped check for fire hidden in the walls and ceilings. Cherry Hill Fire Department EMS treated one resident for smoke inhalation and transported them to Cooper University Hospital.

The next-door neighbor offered their home as a warm shelter for the residents affected by the fire.

Twenty-three Cherry Hill Firefighters fought this fire with support from Cherry Hill Police for traffic control, Cherry Hill Fire Police and the Cherry Hill Rehab Unit.

Due to the significant damage to the home, this family of four is displaced from their home and is making arrangements to stay with nearby family.

One firefighter suffered a hand injury during the initial fire scene activity. The fire is under investigation by the Cherry Hill Fire Marshal’s Office and the Camden County Prosecutors Fire Investigation Unit. The Fire Marshal determined the fire to be accidental and the cause remains open until further testing of electrical systems is complete.
