Moorestown Boy Scouts collect and donate food for the needy

During the month of November, Boy Scout troops all over Burlington County held a “Scouting for Food” drive to help the needy. Each troop collected food and then arranged to donate and deliver it to local organizations to help feed those in need.

In Moorestown, Troop 61 from Our Lady of Good Counsel, Troop 601 from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and Troop 44 from the Methodist Church participated in the drive.

Troop 601 in Moorestown Township had participation from roughly 15 scouts as the troop collected just over 20 bags and boxes of food to donate to St. Matthew Lutheran Church on Chester Avenue this holiday season.

Approximately 20 Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts between Pack 61 and Troop 61 participated in the drive and collected about 300 bags with an estimated 1,500 food items.

The troops work with sponsor OLGC to increase publicity on food donations, and handout the Boy Scout scouting for food bags at masses one week, and collect the food the following week.

The parish delivered the food to Catholic Charities in Delanco.
