The Voorhees Township Committee works hard to generate new business in our community and to help existing businesses continue to thrive. In partnership with the Economic Development Committee (EDC), 2011 has been a successful year for businesses in Voorhees.
Two years ago, with the help of EDC, Voorhees became the first municipality in New Jersey to launch a geographic information system (GIS) powered commercial property search website and only the third city in the United States and the first east of the Mississippi to offer street level visualization layers over a Google Map. Voorhees now has a valuable tool for any business looking to invest in our community. The website, www.voorheesprospector.com, is available as a free resource for businesses, corporate real estate professionals and the community. In the last two years, there have been over 150,000 hits on this website.
The EDC is also taking an aggressive role in keeping businesses in town. In partnership with the Voorhees Business Association (VBA), the Voorhees Business Retention and Expansion Task Force has been formed. Its mission is to retain businesses and help them grow by developing innovative programs that bring the community and businesses together.
On Oct. 21, Mayor Michael Mignogna was invited to the VBA to speak about the state of business in our township. The openings of the new Virtua Hospital on Route 73 and the Voorhees Town Center have generated jobs and significant revenue. These two projects, combined with numerous other new businesses in Voorhees, have brought over 1600 new jobs to our community in 2011.

**The Voorhees Public Works Department offers two options for leaf collection. The first option allows bagged leaves or leaves in trash cans to be placed curbside on Sunday after 4 p.m. and by 6 a.m. on Monday for pick-up Township wide. Leaves should not be mixed with regular trash as the leaves will be recycled separately. Please refrain from putting tree trimmings or branches at curbside during leaf season. The chipper service will not be available.
The second option allows loose leaves to be left at curbside, but only during the designated times listed below. Residents will also be notified of scheduled pick-up dates on the township’s website (www.voorheesnj.com) and on Channel 19 for Comcast subscribers and Channel 38 for Verizon subscribers. Also, signs will be posted at the entrance of each development prior to your scheduled week. Leaves should be raked to the curb line in front of your home the weekend prior to the scheduled week for your neighborhood’s pick-up. Leaf piles should be free of branches and twigs since such items clog the vacuum chute. Residents should also continue to place their grass in cans if possible.
The second option leaf collection schedule for the week of Oct. 31 to Nov. 4 and the week of Nov. 21 to Nov. 25 includes Acorn Hill, Ashland Terrace, Brian’s Run, Carriagebrook Farm, Country Lane, Golfview, Franklin Square, Greenridge, Kirkwood, Lost Tree, Mews, Old Ashland, Osage, Ridgeview Ct., Rygate, Staffords Wold, Staffordshire Estates, Staffordshire Farms, Sunnyfield, Three Pond, Traditions, Turbridge, White Horse Road and Woodcrest Acres.
Neighborhoods scheduled for pick-up from Nov. 7 to Nov. 11 and Nov. 28 to Dec. 2 include Alluvium Woods, Avian, Birch Hill Estates, Cherry Brook Farms, Christopher Tract, Colony, Hearth Stone, High Point, Huntington Ridge, Kress Acres, Lake Villa Dr., Las Brisas, Partridge Run, Rainwood, Ridgeview, Sturbridge Estates, Sturbridge Heights, Sturbridge Lakes, Sturbridge Woods, Terra Verde, Wilderness Lakes, Willow Oaks, Winfield Estates, Woodglen, right side of Gibbs/Kresson Road from Kresson Rd. to Cooper and Cooper to Centennial, right side of Cooper from Rt. 73 to Gibbs/Kresson Rd. and right side of Gibbs/Kresson to Kresson Rd.
Neighborhoods scheduled for pick-up from Nov. 14 to Nov. 18 and Dec. 5 to Dec. 9 include Alluvium, Alluvium Lakes, Beagle Club, Braddocks Woods, Centennial Mills, Chateau Woods, Devonshire, Dutchtown Rd., Elm Tree, Fairway Estates, Jillian’s Way, Kresson Road, Lafayette Ave, Lafayette Hills, Lake Villa, Lippencott Ave, Old Egg Harbor Rd., Reserves, Royal Ct., Woodbrook, right side of Gibbs/Kresson Rd. from 561 to Cooper and right side of Cooper to Rt. 73.
