A world of culinary delights are right at your fingertips next weekend, with the 2011 Annual Taste of Evesham event ready to kick off on Sunday, May 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Main Street in Marlton.
The annual event is an open-air culinary celebration with visitors sampling food from a number of vendors. The event will be held between Cooper Avenue and North Locust Avenue near the firehouse on Main Street.
Tickets can be purchased the day of the event at the welcome booths at either end of Main Street and at Oak Lane. No parking will be available on Main Street, so visitors are encouraged to park off Route 70 Plaza 70 and Tri-Towne Plaza.
This year almost 20 local vendors and restaurants have signed up for the annual celebration of food. The vendors will provide visitors with samples of their specialties. Among the restaurants participating this year are Creations Catering, Mikado Japanese Sushi and Hibachi Steakhouse, Formica Bros. Bakery, Marlton Tavern and many more.
Beer and wine tickets will also be available for purchase at the Taste of Evesham event for visitors 21 and older.
In addition to the great food, visitors can walk around the event and be entertained by live music and two talented culinary experts providing demonstrations during the celebration. Personal chef Karen Docimo will be returning to the event for the third year and Burlington County College’s Director of Culinary Arts chef Beth Dinice will be hosting live culinary demonstrations and showing visitors how to make healthy meals for the whole family.
One man band Dave Murray will perform hits from the 60s to today, including The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Creed, and many more. Also, a five piece original group consisting of all Marlton residents, The MarlTones, will entertain visitors with classic rock hits.
Sponsored and hosted by the Evesham Celebrations Committee, the Taste of Evesham is a non-profit event. All proceeds are used to cover the cost of the event. Costs include such things as setup and related rentals, collateral materials, advertising and related support supplies. Any remaining funds will be used toward future Evesham Celebration Foundation sponsored events and the community projects they support, according to representatives.
