Borough Commissioner Jeff Kasko will hold a community budget briefing for all interested residents on Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall. A review of the proposed 2011 municipal budget, including revenue sources, expenditures, capital improvement plans, and water and sewer spending, will be presented.
The meeting will also include a question and answer portion and a feedback session. Borough Administrator Sharon McCollough will also participate in the meeting. This is a chance to get a more in-depth look at the budget and how your property taxes are spent locally.
While the budget is only increasing by less than a percent, Kasko said the local purpose tax rate will be increased by about 2 cents from the 2010 rate. Taxpayers will see a rate of a little more than 44 cents per every $100 of assessed property value.
For the average assessed homeowner of $491,359, this means an increase of about $87 in the municipal portion of the tax bill.
Luckily, state aid was kept flat for 2011. Last year Haddonfield had its aid reduced by a total of 22Â percent.
Overall, the budget only increased by a little more than $105,000 over the 2010Â budget.
