Dortch to voters: A victory for parents

Matthew Dortch, the newest members of the Voorhees Township Public Schools board of education, thanked the voters of Voorhees for electing him to his new position.

The newcomer will join Bruce Karpf and Richard Nelson on the BOE.

Here is what he had to say:

“I’m thrilled! This is a victory for parents, and a step towards a better educational future for the children of Voorhees.

I would like to thank Richard Wojdon for his selfless dedication to the community for decades. Although I’m sorry to see him unseated as president of the Board of Education, I promise to bring to the board the same level of dedication, along with new ideas and renewed energy.

I’m looking forward to challenging my fellow board members, our administrators and teachers to reach peek performance. Our children and our neighbors deserve nothing less.”

He will be inducted into the board at the next regularly scheduled BOE meeting on May 11.
