Have a question about the township budget?

By ROBERT LINNEHAN

The Voorhees Committee will be hosting the public hearing of its 2011 budget on Monday, April 25 at the regularly scheduled committee meeting at 8 p.m. at the municipal hall, 620 Haddonfield-Berlin Road.

Township Administrator Larry Spellman said the tax rate will be decreased for the municipal portion of the bill by $10 for township tax payers.

The actual budget will not be passed at the meeting, Spellman said, because the committee is waiting the approval of the sale of two parcels of land in the township.

“There will be no local tax increase,” Mayor Michael Mignogna previously said. “We have worked hard to control spending and continue to provide the high level of municipal services our residents expect and deserve.”

The mayor said the 2011–12 budget decreases the payroll, and noted the success of the increasing shared service programs entered into by the township.

The committee will continue our efforts to generate additional tax revenue,” Mignogna said, “through such projects as the Voorhees Town Center and the Virtua Medical Campus.”
