A donation day at CHOP

By ROBERT LINNEHAN

Several young third grade Central Elementary School students took a day and helped brighten several patients days.

Payton Anderson, Gemma Miller, Sabrina Miller, Kirsten Regan, Caitlin Regan and Tylin Regan took a day and wanted to help oncology patients at the children’s hospital.

The five girls spent a day fingerknitting — a specialized form of knitting — headbands for the patients, of which they were able to make over 50 during the day.

The girls donated the headbands to the Hematology/Oncology outpatient clinic in CHOP at Voorhees Township. The girls even made specialized Valentines Day gifts by hand for the patients of the wing.

After creating the Valentines Day gifts and making the bandanas, the girls donated the items and met Angela Wolf of the outpatient clinic in the hospital.

The CHOP Pediatric and Adolescent Specialty Care Center and Ambulatory Surgery Center in Voorhees provides convenient, easy access to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia staff and services.

Since its start in 1855 as the nation’s first hospital devoted exclusively to caring for children, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has been the birthplace for many dramatic firsts in pediatric medicine, according to representatives.
