Quartet to perform at MAC in March

Quattro Bassi, a unique quartet made up of four low-brass instruments, will perform at the Medford Arts Center on Sunday, March 20 at 4 p.m.

Quattro Bassi can be imagined as an instrumental barbershop quartet. The virtuosity of these four players debunks any stereotype associated with the tuba. The group performs a wide variety of music, from the Renaissance and Baroque periods to the Ragtime, Dixieland, and Big Band styles of the Twentieth Century.

Quattro Bassi consists of four low-brass instrumentalists: Bob Greene and Jim Weinhouse on euphonium, Art Leiby and Harry Salotti on tuba. The group has performed for the last fifteen years in the Philadelphia and South Jersey areas. Some of the group’s past performances include concerts at the Trumpet Museum, Reading, PA, Ocean City Music Pier, live radio performances at WFLN, Presbyterian Church of Pitman, Rowan University, University of Delaware, and Bridgeton Public Schools Children’s Concert Series.

The performance on March 20 will feature the music of Bach, Duke Ellington, John Philip Sousa, Scott Joplin, the Disney Studios, Puccini, and John Williams.

Admission to the concert is $10 per person at the door. No reservations are required. The Arts Center is located at 18 North Main Street.
