Platts establish scholarship endowment

Community leaders Judy and Cherry Hill mayor Bernie Platt have established an endowment for a permanent scholarship fund to provide a Jewish Day school education at Kellman Brown Academy, announced KBA Board president Judi London.

“We strongly believe that Kellman Brown Academy is vital in ensuring Jewish continuity and creating future generations of leaders for our community” said the Platts. They added that, “it’s very gratifying to know that more local families will be able to access this wonderful educational resource through this fund. Seeing our grandchildren thrive and inspired by their Kellman Brown education has energized us to commit to this important endeavor.”

Kellman Brown Academy, a Solomon Schechter Day school, has been cultivating leadership, developing academic excellence, and teaching Jewish studies and values since 1958. Today, nearly 200 students in preschool through 8th grade are enrolled. The school is the premier Jewish Day School in the South Jersey area and the only one accredited by the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools.

Rabbi Moshe Schwartz, Head of School, said “The Platt’s leadership and vision will have an important impact on the future of Jewish education in our community. We hope others will follow their example.” Rabbi Schwartz added, “Our goal is to increase the schools newly established endowment to ensure that Jewish Day School education is accessible to all who seek it.”
