Medford arts get financial boost

The Friends of Medford Art Council is one of ten organizations that has been awarded a grant from the Burlington County Freeholders.

According to a statement released by the county, the Council has received $5,000, which is designated to go toward general operating support.

The grants, which require matching funds from the recipients, are part of a $80,842 grant from the N.J. State Council on the Arts.

Medford received the most amount of money possible under the grant program. Grants ranging form $2,000 to $5,000 were awarded on the recommendations of a peer panel, or experts from the arts, that evaluated applications.

The programs received $37,000 of the state council’s grant, the remaining portion is used by the county’s Parks Department to promote and sponsor events including the Teen Arts Program and the Arts in the Park event.
