Eastern’s SATs shine, VTPS makes math strides

Eastern Regional High School remained one of the leaders in SAT scores with the release of the 2009–10 School Report Cards.

The school was fourth overall in the 51 district, tri-county region, and third in Camden County, behind only Cherry Hill East and Haddonfield Memorial High School.

Eastern also remained below the state averages in partial proficiency in language arts and math, and well above state averages in advanced proficiency.

Spending per student at the high school level remained about $1,000 lower than the state averages. With median district salaries remaining above the state average for administrators, and about $2,000 less than state averages for teachers.

In the Voorhees Township Public School system, class size at the middle school level continues to remain above the state averages, with the trend continuing for at least another year, as total grade five class sizes are mostly up from last year, and a mostly decreasing class size trend in grade four and below at the elementary level.

Median district salaries for teachers and administrators remained well over the state average, yet the cost per student at VTPS was down about $200 over last year, and right in line with the state average.

In NJASK5 testing, the elementary schools remained below the state averages in language arts partial proficiency, greatly above the state average in proficiency, and Osage and Signal Hill falling below the state average in advanced proficiency. In math, drops in the percentage of students at the partial proficiency and paroficency, boosted the percentage of advanced proficiency students by almost 10 percent at all elementary schools.

Check back this weekend for more on Eastern’s SATs and the elementary math scores.
