According to Haddonfield School District representatives, the search for a new superintendent is moving forward, but a timetable for the hire has yet to be set. After the first application deadline, Board of Education Vice President Michael Joseph Mercanti Anthony said a number of qualified applicants have shown interest in the position.
The Board of Education is currently interviewing several applicants, he said, but it’s unclear of when a selection will be made.
“If at the end of this round we have a candidate whom we feel is the best for the district, we’ll move forward. Such a selection would probably take place mid-summer,” he said. “Otherwise, we will at that point pursue an interim for the position and continue the search process until a satisfactory candidate can be found.”
Superintendent Alan Fegley announced his resignation from the district in early May after serving in Haddonfield for the past 18 years. Fegley reported he will be taking the superintendent position with the Phoenixville School District in Chester County, Pa.
Fegley will stay on with the district until July 1.
