Voters defeated the Evesham Township School District’s $69 million spending plan by a 3,792 to 3,293 vote during Tuesday’s school election. The district had proposed a $52.6 million tax levy that would have increased the tax rate 4 cents per $100 of assessed home value. School taxes for residents in the average assessed home of $277,100 would have increased by $111.03 if the budget had passed as proposed.
In the race for three, three-year seats on the Evesham Township Board of Education, incumbents Lisa Mansfield, Joseph De Julius and newcomer Jay Levenson beat incumbent Barry Fitzgerald for the full terms on the Board.
Meanwhile, Evesham residents voted 3,620 to 3,142 to defeat the Lenape Regional High School District’s $139.7 million school budget. District-wide a 12,645 to 10,824 vote defeated the budget, which would have raised regional taxes for the average Evesham homeowner by $128.93 per year.
In an uncontested race for four, three-year seats on the Lenape Regional School District Board of Education, incumbent board member Joseph Borucki was re-elected to the seat designated for an Evesham resident.
