The Mikvah Association has scheduled its annual Melavah Malkah for Feb. 6, at 8 p.m. at Congregation Sons of Israel in Cherry Hill. Honorees of the evening will be Marjie and Ed Letzer and Jennifer and Simcha Reich for their dedication and commitment to the mikvah and community.
Shlomo Veingrad was a standout football player at East Texas State University, yet he was not drafted into the NFL. Several teams who tried him out dismissed him for being too small and not NFL material. Shlomo persevered, demonstrating an unbelievable determination to succeed.
He was eventually signed as a free agent by the Green Bay Packers where he played for five seasons.
Shlomo later joined the Dallas Cowboys, who sought leadership and experience for their offensive line, and remained in Dallas for two seasons where he became a Super Bowl champion in 1992. Shlomo’s versatility and athletic proficiency as an offensive lineman resulted in his playing every position on the offensive line but center.
Tickets are $18 for a single, $36 for a couple, $54 for a sponsor, $108 for a contributor, $180 for a benefactor and $360 for a Pillar. Shlomo Veingrad will begin his lecture at approximately 9:30 p.m. following a dairy dinner and program. A donation is requested to attend only the lecture.
