An architecture firm was hired recently by the M. Allan Vogelson Branch of the Camden County Public Library for preliminary designs for its future teen wing. The branch received several grants in February that will completely fund the new wing of the library.
The Vogelson Branch received a $40,000 grant to create a special teen space dedicated to meeting the needs, interests and tastes of teenagers in Voorhees. The South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative will provide $40,000 in funding, which includes a $10,000 special grant from the New Jersey State Library, to complement $35,900 committed by CCLS, based on its proposal submitted to SJRLC.
Bach Associates, an architecture firm out of Haddon Heights, was hired to do the preliminary design work for the new teen center, said Linda Druce, head of youth services for the Vogelson Branch.
“We felt that Bach Associates really understood what we are looking for in this project,” Druce said. “They meet our needs in terms of budgets. They’re currently drawing up architectural plans for the space we have.”
According to officials of the library branch, Bach Associates submitted the best proposal for a unique space for teens that will require renovation involving 1,245 square feet of space on the first floor of the library.
