Budget’s future up to Council: Before the annual school board election, the Moorestown Board of Education had proposed a $68 million spending plan that would have increased the average tax bill by $116. But due by a 1,208 to 1,050 vote, residents turned down the Board of Education’s proposition and, according to state procedure, the defeated budget will be placed in the hands of Town Council for review.

Meeting their match: Moorestown High School tennis’ toughest matches are in the preseason.

Town budget talks continue: Council met last week for the third in a series of public meetings intended to workshop the township’s 2009 budget — and officials are reporting some progress. Mayor Dan Roccato said last week’s meeting marked the beginning of some new discussions between the public and township officials on how to cut costs and possibly accomplish the harder task of generating revenue.
